Four months after the auction house market closed in New Orleans’ warehouse district, there are plans to create a new food hall at 801 Magazine St.
The Hall on Magazine will host a collection of dining experiences from around the world, including Mediterranean seafood, Italian fusion, and Japanese and Mexican street food, according to a press release. It will also have an event space called “The Library”, with a cocktail and champagne bar.
The Hall on Magazine, slated to open this fall, is one of the brand’s first locations in its expansion plans. The Hall started in Tampa, Florida and has a location in Orlando. The New Orleans site is one of three to open this year, along with the other two in Georgia.
Previously, The Hall restaurateur Jamal Wilson said he was looking for locations in Alabama, Charlotte, North Carolina and the Virginia-Washington, DC area. He said the decision to choose New Orleans was easy.
“New Orleans’ culinary scene is unparalleled – it perfectly encapsulates the melting pot of cultures and vibrancy of the city,” he said. “As someone who thrives on collaboration, I’m thrilled to bring The Hall experience to New Orleans to help showcase the best culinary talent the city has to offer through an experience of high hospitality.”
The Hall on Magazine takes the location of the auction house’s market which closed in late March. It opened in 2018 and was the second food hall to debut in New Orleans after St. Roch Market.
